New to mountain biking in 2013 but ride frequently, about 3 times, 35+ miles a week

Use a bell to reduce the risk of head-on collisions! Hikers appreciate it too. Also wear elbow+knee+shin pads. And join the San Diego Mountain Bike Association http://www.sdmba.com/ ...definitely worth it in many ways.
