I recently went down over the border took the toll road and had a wonderful day and dinner at Puerto Nuevo. It's pretty safe now. The government has made the entire way a ' no ticket zone' and are doing so much to attact us to come down. The prices for dinner are like they were 20 years ago. All our drinks were free , they were just so happy to have customers. Shopping was great too. So if we get a caravan of people, buy the insurance and bypass TJ, its not very far and we are there having a great lobster feast!

Glad you had a good time.

That area is not a "no ticket zone" so be careful. Lots of great places to eat at Puerto Nuevo. Our family favorite is "Chela's". Many recommend Puerto Nuevo #1, Puerto Nuevo #2, or Ortega's, but some of the others (like Chela's) can be a much better value - with exceptional lobster and other seafood.
