I found that there was adequate time to compose and I did not feel rushed.

Please note that this is an open event Monday-Friday offered each week by Salk Institute. The tour is from Noon-1 pm but if you arrive at the reception desk by 11:45 am you will hear a brief talk by a young scientist about the research at the Salk Institute. After that an architect will take over and do the tour. There are lots of people who attend this event so you need to reserve your place on the Salk Institute website or you may be turned away. There is no "event leader". Just enjoy it yourself or with friends up to 5 in your group. The tour can reasonably handle about 20 people from the public. No restrictions on photographing the buildings. Park in the over flow public parking and walk back to the main buildings and just keep asking until you end up in the correct reception area for the tour.

If the tour is full already, this event should be cancelled. Dorothy?

I changed my RSVP for *Tuesday* to No because I "independently" signed up on the Salk Inst. site for Friday 13/20.

That's about 7 years away Roy. Hope you have the patience ;)

Dorothy, is there time on the tour to compose some pics or is this like elementary school ...the "Keep moving now - we're walking, we're walking..." type tour???

    December 9, 2013

  • Dorothy M.

As I went last week I am changing my RSVP to "no." Be sure to leave enough time to park and walk back. I would say 15 minutes at least.

The time is listed at the top of the page as 11:45PM. Is the PM part right Dorothy or should that be AM?

Brenda, the way you set it up is to go on the Salk Institute website under architectural tour and pick a day. Up to 5 people can go on any particular day. All the tours are at the same time but you can't just show up. You have to register online.

I will try to go by myself next week.

I could go there anytime by myself. I was hoping to go with a fellow photographer since I thought that was the point of the group.

Well, I can't figure out how to post the photos. Maybe it doesn't show because it is a "do it yourself" without a specific date and time. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Since no date or location is selected, the system has not scheduled it on the calendar.

I added a location. You can add the date.

I have been wanting to go to the Salk Institute. Would love to go with a group or just a couple of people. I RSVP'd yes but, of course, it depends on the date and time.
