ASMP-SD Portfolio Review

NOTE: Registration via Eventbrite (using the botton at the bottom of this section) is required to participate. RSVP'ing on Meetup does not reserve your space.

Join ASMP San Diego for our inaugural Portfolio Review! ASMP-SD is bringing together buyers of all types - Creative Directors, Art Directors, Photo Editors, Photography Professors, and more - all to allow our local photo community an opportunity to show their portfolio to the types of professionals who are in a position to hire photographers. This event is designed to be beneficial to all photographers. Whether you're a seasoned Pro looking to show your portfolio to art buyers or an emerging photographer looking for honest non-biased feedback on presentation and style, we'll have something for everyone!

This review will take place in the Health & Sciences Complex (Bldg 34) at Grossmont College on Saturday, November 10 from 9am-1pm. Appointments for reviews will be scheduled in the order people sign up (and pay) using this link (or the graphic link at bottom) -- first come, first served. Scheduling will take place beginning promptly at 8:30am. Each attendee will be able to sign up for at least three portfolio reviews. Interviews will be 15-minutes each, with a 5-minute break in between each. We will have a short (30-min) lunch break at 11am, with additional interviews afterwards. Each reviewer will have an opportunity to review 11 portfolios.

Portfolios may be in printed form (book, folio, box) or electronically (iPad, etc.). If bringing a laptop/iPad, be sure your images are saved on your device as we may not have Wi-Fi available for you to access a live website.

Reviewers will be listed as they are confirmed at http://www.asmpsd.org/articles/2012-portfolio-review.html.

For myself, it was REALLY informative. Not only am I green, I dont know the tricks of real photorgraphy! This was like a seminar of sorts for me so i personally got alot out of it.
The folks giving the reviews that i sat with were actually very kind and full of ideas. I got good feedback on my work and they shared ideas of how i could bump it up a few notches. No one said anything negative though i know there was plenty of room for that!

Most likely it will be every other year. It takes a LOT of time to pull all these people together.

Since its at Grossmont College, there may be. We are checking in to whether or not it's an "open" system. Regardless, it's always best to have a backup plan (just like carrying a backup camera), which is why we recommend people have an offline option.

I am a total novice but I would love to come to this. I would hate to take a spot of someone more skilled. Any suggestions?

Vanessa, see my note to Andy below. (Sorry it didn't appear immediately below her question!)

Andy, there's no minimum skill level required. Interviews are "first come, first served." ALL are welcome. If you snooze, you lose... The early bird gets the worm. (Feel free to add any other cliches here)
