Hello Theatre Lovers!
This Thursday is Valentine's Day. Why spend it alone?! Whether you are single or the better half of a couple ;-) join us February 14 at Cygnet's Old Town Theatre for a complimentary wine tasting followed by August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean. Dress warm. The pre-show wine tasting for those 21 and older is on the patio outside, in front of the theatre. 6:30 pm wine tasting. 7:30 pm show. I'm bringing chocolate! Feel free to bring snacks to share too, if you'd like.
Cygnet Theatre has generously offered our group $8 off the ticket of your choice, so you can sit wherever you want and still receive a discount! Below is information on how to get tickets using our promo code MEETUP. The play has a running time of two and a half hours.

FREE READINGS AT THE LA JOLLA PLAYHOUSE - DNA SERIES OF NEW WORKS
Scroll down to the bottom of the page after clicking the link below to learn more abut these free shows. You still need to get tickets though and space is limited in the small theatre. So, get yours now! I will be attending The Consultant on Saturday, February 16. It's not a formal meetup, but let me know if you'll be there and we can at least say hi, if not sit together!
MORE TICKETS FOR BRAHMAN/I
I received a call today from the La Jolla Playhouse today. Some tickets for the workshop reading of the DNA Series' new works production of Brahman/I have come available and they would like to offer some to us. I am guessing at the $5 discounted rate, but I don't know for sure yet. I received a message, so I don't have all the details. If you would still like to go if I can get us more tickets, let me know! Click the link below and scroll down on the DNA Series page to learn more about the show. We are attending, Saturday, February 23 at 7:30 pm. It is general admission, so I am planning on getting there at about 6:30 pm. Following the show, we will be meeting at the Rock Bottom Brewery & Restaurant in La Jolla. Just down the street from the Playhouse. They have a late night happy hour with discounted drink and food specials from 10:00 pm - midnight. Whether or not you go to the show, you are welcome to join us! Just please RSVP to me, so I can let the restaurant know to add to our group reservation. Thank you!
MEETUP FOR STEPPIN' OUT WITH BEN VEREEN MARCH 30 HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
This Friday was to be the deadline for discount tickeets to see Ben Vereen at the La Jolla Playhouse. As of earlier today, only one person from our group had purchased a ticket, at least using our discount promo code. Anyone who has purchased or purchases a ticket will be able to attend, of course, but I have canceled this event as a formal meetup due to lack of interest. All unsold tickets that were allotted to us, will be released to the public. Those that go to the show, I hope you have a great time!
LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU WANT TO SEE!
I will be talking further with The Old Globe Theatre this week about planning future meetups. Two shows I am strongly considering are and . Check them out and let me know what you think!
I was also contacted by a stand-up comedian from New York that recently moved to LA. He is planning his tour, which includes a show in San Diego on April 20. He invited us to attend, offering us discounted tickets. They are normally $20, but he is offering us a $5 admission. Since different people like different things, including joke topics and comedy styles, I invite you to check out some of his video clips to learn more about him. Don't watch to many and spoil his surprises the night of the show!
One of our group members is involved with marketing for the San Diego Musical Theatre; SDMT. Although they are not being planned as formal meetups, I wanted to let you know about two of their upcoming shows at Birch North Park Theatre. You can find the San Diego Musical Theatre on Facebook and Twitter at @sdmtmusicals or click the link below, which will take you to their website.
Chicago from February 15 through March 3
Sound of Music will be in May
I hope to see you this Thursday, Saturday or at another meetup soon! Thanks for being a part of the group and sharing in the love of theatre and the performing arts!
