The Fox and the Hounds: A 2 mile Leon Creek Greenbelt Walk Beginning at Fox Park

  • This location is shown only to members

Equipped with large amounts of parking, doggie bags, a doggie and people water fountain, and beautiful landscaping, this park is the new jewel of the Leon Creek Greenbelt which now extends from south of Bandera all the way to Valero Park at I-10 and 1604.

We will be heading north towards Valero Park, however we will not go that far.  The walk will be approximately 2 miles at a relatively leisurely pace.

If there is interest, we will go to Brindles Ice Cream afterward.  Brindles is a dog-friendly ice cream establishment located in the Strand Shopping Center at Huebner and I-10.

Here is a summary of the walk:

Distance: 2.0

Approximate Time: 50 minutes

Location Proximity:  Within 10 miles of a large percentage of Northwest and North Central San Antonio, Leon Valley, and Helotes.

Approximate Temperature: 90

Conditions:  No Rain

Difficulty Level:  Easy

Traffic on Path:  Moderate

Water:  Available at the beginning of the walk.  Bringing water for yourself and for your dog is highly advisable.

Leash Status:  This is a on-leash walk by city ordinance.  This is a six foot or under leash walk by Nature Hound rules.

Fox Park is approximately 1.5 miles West of I-10 and Hausman, and approximately .8 miles East of the Babcock/ Hausman intersection.  If you are coming from I-10 it is on the left side of Hausman Road (South).  If you are coming from I-10 it will be before the Leon Creek Bridge.  It is indicated as Fox Park on Google Maps.

Brodie and I are looking forward to seeing you!

At this time I am not canceling the event, however the chance of a rainstorm is quite high. Please take this under advisement when deciding whether to come or not. If you can't make it tonight, I hope to see you at an upcoming walk.
