The Downtown Tourist Trot

Tourist shouldn't have all the fun here in SA! Join the Nature Hounds for this unique walk through some popular sight-seeing destinations!

We'll start at the Blue Star Art Complex and head towards Downtown walking down some of the newly completed trails on the Riverwalk. We'll walk past La Villata and through Hemisphere Park to the Tower of the Americas, before heading back down Alamo St and all the unique shops and restaurants of the King William area.

Sounds like a lot, but we can get-r-done in under 2.5 hrs, walking 3.5 miles at a casual pace. The route we're following is paved, has some stairs, and hugs downtown streets for the second half of the walk. If your dog isn't comfortable around traffic you can still attend for the first portion of the walk, doing an out-n-back on the quiet section of the Riverwalk. So there is shorter option for those needing it.

Hope to see y'all there!

Just a reminder: Bring plenty of water for you and your dog today!

Hi All! My dear friend Cathy Rosenthal just published a wonderful children's book called The Lucky Tale of Two Dogs. She will have a book signing at Tails Natural Pet Market just up the road from Blue Star at 642 S. Presa tomorrow from 10 am-noon. After our walk go over and check it out! It's a wonderul story about two dogs and is a great way to teach a young (or not so young) person how to care and love your dog. Visit the book's website: See you tomorrow!

There are water fountains on the first stretch, but you'll still need to bring plenty of water for you and your dog. We typically take 3 breaks to water the dogs on this walk and those spots don't have them.

Will there be spots for our pups to drink some water while on the walk?

There should be plenty of parking at Blue Star, where we're starting the walk. It's far enough from Downtown to avoid parking hassles. If there happens to be an event or something in the lot (which occasionally happens), you can park anywhere in the surrounding neighborhood for free.

Hi, I've never had the chance to go to any of these events because of work or school. Right now I'm taking a short break to recoup. Where would one park downtown?
