Flinn Springs Trail Hike

Flinn Springs Trail appears to wind roughly 1.5 miles from Flinn Springs County Park up, up, up into Crestridge Ecological Reserve.

It's the only major trail in Crestridge that I haven't explored.

Trail signage in Crestridge ranges from minimal to none. Here is a photo of the lower portion of Flinn Springs Trail:

We'll meet at 10:00 AM at the Area C parking lot in Flinn Springs County Park:

The park is located at 14787 Olde Highway 80, El Cajon 92021. Area C parking is located at [masked], [masked])

Sign at park entrance on Olde Highway 80

I've never hiked this trail before, but it is on the official map, it appears on Google Earth, and I've seen both ends, so it must be there! We'll climb all the way to the Reserve, at least as far as Rios Canyon Rd., and then return by the same route. We should return between 1:00 and 2:00 PM.

Wear good hiking shoes or boots and take water and a snack or light lunch. I'll be taking a camera and my trusty GPS.

Leashed dogs are allowed, but this hike is not suitable for most dogs. There is a $3 fee for parking, so you might want to carpool and bring exact change for self-registration.

It was pretty hot, and not many people showed. Other than that, it was good. Oh...and those annoying little bugs...

It was unusually HOT, but all three of us hiked the entire Flinn Springs Trail in both directions. There are actually two routes, 1.54 and 1.66 miles long, with no signage to indicate which is the official trail. (I think it's probably the longer route.) The views of Flinn Springs Park and El Capitan are great.

Sorry, guys, it looks like I'm going to have to work tomorrow. Have an excellent hike, though!

Tentative. If I can get finished up with a project this weekend, I'm there!
