Hike Torrey Pines

• Park outside the gate to the glider park if it is locked. Hike down the citizen's trail to the beach, south to a sneak route up to the mesa top. Excellent views and a small trail with descriptions of the native veg. Possible sightings of peregrine falcons, gray whales, dolphins and/or pelicans.   You should be in good shape. You will be responsible for your own safety as well as looking out for everyone else. This hike will be conducted at a moderately fast pace with time to enjoy the place. Part of this hike is off trail and can be slippery if wet. Hike to the mesa top and the return hike up the citizen's trail are STEEP.

Bring water, snack, sunscreen, camera. I have binoculars. Distance unknown, but should take two to three hours.

Thanks to everyone who attended. I really enjoyed this hike and the group's enthusiasm. If you're interested, I am doing another hike next weekend which will take in another part of Torrey Pines.

My cell for last minute delay is[masked]-5230. Bring binoculars if you have them, it looks like a large group will be attending. We're gonna have some fun.

Please add more details on meeting location and parking spot, You had mentioned in case Gate is locked. I am new to this area

Rajan, not sure which direction you'll come from, but turn off Torrey Pines Rd. at Torrey Pines Scenic Drive. It's paved as far as a gate which is locked at night. If it's open, you can drive into the dirt parking lot. I'll be towards the left side of the lot. The trail starts there. If it's locked you can park outside along the paved road. In that case I will be as near the gate as I can park.
