******** FLASH MOB ******** UNHOSTED!!!!!!!

THIS IS THE ACTUAL EVENT .... Do not give away what is going to happen at 7pm.

Join us for Oceanside's first flash mob! Anyone can participate! You do not need to be a part of the El Camino page--this is open to EVERYONE that would like to come out and participate. All ages, all abilities, and all fitness levels.

We will meet at the Sunset Market on March 14th. Please arrive at least 10 minutes before. The flash mob will start around 7pm. Help us make this mob AWESOME by spreading the word and participating. Its ok if you can't dance, most people can't. Its not about being a good dancer, its about reclaiming free public spaces and creating fun for our community. Give it a try!

DETAILS:

1) Pass this link to as many people that you know. The bigger, the better. Get the word out so its successful!

2) Learn the dance moves to the song. There will be a Youtube link posted as the event gets closer with the choreography and song choice. It will be very basic, so all ages can participate. Stay tuned....

3) Show up to the Sunset Market at around 6:45. We will post as the date gets closer that actual meeting point at the market.

4) IMPORTANT: Mill around, without congregating into a big group once at the market. Act as if nothing strange is going on.

5) Once you hear the whistle, the mob will start the dance. It will last exactly 4 minutes.

6) After the dance is complete, disperse quickly... act as if it was spontaneous and like you don't know anyone involved. You can reconvene outside of the market with those that you know.

RULES:
1) Please, please watch for other dancers and people standing around. We don't want anyone to get hurt.

2) Do not bring objects or props to dance with.

3) Be sure to stay within your limits. If a particular dance move is difficult for you, adapt it to your level. For example, if there is a jump and you can't jump, mimic it instead.

4) Act as if nothing is going on before and after the mob occurs. Flash mobs are suppose to look spontaneous. If we're all standing around in a big group talking, it defeats the purpose.

NEED TO PRACTICE????
For those of you that would like to learn the dance in a group, or need help with certain moves we will be meeting at the Oceanside Band Shell for an hour or two on:

Saturday March 2 at 3pm
AND
Saturday March 9 at 3pm

EL CAMINO HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI:
After the mob, if you'd like to meet up with some of your peers we will be at Cabo on the roof immediately following the flash mob. You're welcome to bring your friends.

The point is so that non-participants cannot hear the music/directions. There will be a mob of people, so far over 100, doing the same thing without any indication of why or how they are doing it...providing non-participants a level of WTF? Doing it like this also allows us to get around the issue of an amplification permit and interfering with the band set that is generally happening at the market. Check out this silent disco flash mob http://www.youtube.com/watch?=4NX2vKf0GUU

The instructions are ready with the music...free download...listen to it and see if this suits you to be prepared for the mob. http://tin deck.com/listen/ylut

Sorry, I didn't mean to offend you. Just am not used to the silent mobs and prefer the "original" I guess. Nothin against this one. I just thought otherwise is all.

Oh no Carrie you didn't offend me. I was just stating that I've seen different types of flash mobs and they were all entertaining.

Sorry everybody...just heard back from the El Camino Alumni who is organizing the Flash Mob. This is what she said:

At this point, the person who said they'd do the music has bailed... so... we are doing two things: 1) Not having a choreographed dance and 2) Making a file to download to your phone/ipod/ipad/mp3 player/CD/etc. that you will listen to while at the flash mob via earbuds. There will be no need to memorize anything, thus allowing the preparation time to be minimal since its so close to the event.

The file will have all the directions you need to participate... there will be a link you can download it from for free. It'll be posted very soon.

Harlem shake is gay. It's just people who look like they are having seizures.

Im sorry but isn't the purpose of a flashmob to have audible music for all to hear & everyone doin the same dance? I don't mean to piss on anyones parade but...My suggestion would be to postpone this til you have a choreographed dance to provide & music for the bystanders to hear. There's a group that plays upbeat live music, perhaps someone could talk to them & see if they could do a song you have in mind? Or just bring a portable radio that's loud enough. No need for someone to mix it. There's TONS of mixes out there to use.

Aww that's lame. I don't think anyone will want to attend an unchoreographed, earbud music flash mob. We're just gonna look like crazy people. I told a whole bunch of people about the mob and they were so excited but now I gotta tell them that this flash mob isn't going down. Oh well. Nice try. Maybe next time.

People think I'm crazy anyways so I'll be down to bust a dance move. Ha! As long I can hear music in my ears.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
