I was impressed by the Hiromi You Tube performance.  I would consider going to Anthology (five blocks from home) to see her.  I really liked that tune she played.  Her animated performance leaves little doubt she enjoys playing.  I had not heard her before, but I have seen the name in print.

Last night I enjoyed local musician Nathan Hubbard play the music of early Gary Burton recordings, from the seventies.  Love that stuff.  Hubbard is a local drummer/composer/leader who last night played the vibes, as Burton does.  The venue is new to jazz and one I think this group should consider for some meetups, since it is small, sort of upscale, but not near as much as Anthologya.  There is never a cover charge.  The owner is a fine jazz guitar player.  Consider also there was plenty of seating in the restaurant area, well, the bar too last night.  They have a jazz jam on Thursday (formerly at the Hot Monkey Love) with some great players attending.  Attendance to that has been good, the times I have been.  It starts at 9:30.  Sunday is not a jam, but always has outstanding small jazz groups playing; from 6-9:00.
