How do you consider your javascript skills (from 0 to 10, 0 not knowing javascript and 10 being a rockstar)

4 - I'm just starting out, but I've been somewhat of a programmer for the past 15 years (I say somewhat because I consider myself more of a data analyst that uses programming as a tool, not as my primary job role).

Do you have particular javascript libraries, frameworks, or other that you would like to learn about?

Not really, I've started out with JQuery, but am open to suggestions. One thing I noticed about this technology, just like the many others out there (like C++, C#, etc.) that an employer will want a very specific requirement, not realizing (at least not in the HR dept, that is) that all of these technologies are just tools, and if you get the right person, they will be able to ramp up their knowledge in very little to no time at all and get as productive, if not more so, than someone who has only worked in that one specific tech. I've seen job listings that have specifically asked for JQuery or node.js, instead of just asking for someone who knows javascript.

I just moved to the SD area from Palm Springs, by way of WA state. My family and I moved down here to try and pursue, what I was hoping was a broader range of opportunities. After a year, I'm still waiting for those opportunities to come along.
