The Farm Sanctuary is a 26-acre Southern California Shelter located on a beautiful hacienda ranch in Acton, just 45 minutes from Hollywood. In addition to providing shelter for more than 100 animals, Farm Sanctuary’s Animal Acres offers one-hour guided tours on Sundays and group tours are available by appointment. As well as guided tours, The Farm Sanctuary offers Volunteer Work Parties which provides compassionate folks with a fun, positive opportunity to meet new friends, pitch in with chores and projects, spend time with rescued farm animals, and learn more about our sanctuaries and efforts to protect animals from abuse. They take place on the second Saturday of each month and consist of a few hours of work (usually barn cleaning), followed by a potluck-style lunch (everyone brings a vegan dish to share with the group), then another hour of work, followed by an educational tour of the shelter. If, after attending a monthly work party, you are interested in volunteering on another day/time that works for you and the shelter (other than a work party), that can easily be arranged, since you wouldn’t need another orientation.
I have contacted the Sanctuary and currently there are no volunteers coming from San Diego on a regular basis. This is where we come in. I hope to volunteer at the April Work Party and would love to bring a group of compassionate vegans with me. Before looking into the linguistics, I wanted to see what the reaction would be with our group. So please leave a comment if you would like to help out!
