This is a tennis meet up group for
- experienced and active players
- with 15+ years tennis playing experience
- who rank 3.0, 3.5 or 4.0 according to the USTA Self Ranking Guide (see below).
All games take place in Sherman Oaks at private courts. If you are new to the group, the court location will be emailed to you once you RSVP for your first match.
The fee is $2.00 for doubles and $3.00 for singles. The fee will be collected in person prior to the match. Please bring 1 can of new tennis balls too. White soled tennis shoes are required as black soled shoes scuff up the courts (unless they are black shoes specifically for tennis).
As of January 2012, doubles matches are played Sundays and Tuesdays. Singles matches are every other Monday.
Your next step is to determine your self ranking, review the list of scheduled matches and sign up according to your experience and ranking. On the event pages, you will find more detailed information about how the matches are run.
Finally, please consider your skill level and experience carefully before RSVP'ing. In order for the games to be fun yet competitive, players need to be on the same level.

USTA Self Ranking Guide
2.5 Player - Learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. Can sustain a short rally of slow pace with the other players of the same ability.
3.0 Player- Fairly consistent when hitting medium paced shots, but is not comfortable with all strokes (ie serve, backhand, lob, volley,drop shot) and lacks execution when trying for directional control, depth or power.
3.5 Player - Achieved improved stroke dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. Exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage and is developing teamwork in doubles.
4.0 Player - Dependable strokes, including directional control and depth on both forehand and backhand sides on moderate-paced shots. Uses lobs, overheads, approach shots and volleys with some success and occasionally force errors when serving. Teamwork in doubles is evident.
4.5 Player - Has developed use of power and spin and can handle pace. Has sound footwork, can control depth of shots and attempt to vary game plan according to your opponents. Can hit first serves with power and accuracy and place the second serve.
5.0 Player - Good shot anticipation and frequently has outstanding shot or attribute around which a game may be structured. Can regularly hit winners or force errors off of short balls and can put away volleys. Can successfully execute lobs, drop shots, half volleys, overhead smash and has good depth and spin on most second serves.
