See all- Pacifica GGNRA LandsNE corner Paloma Avenue & Oceana Blvd (off Hwy 1), Pacifica, CA
You've heard of the Presidio and the Marin Headlands, but did you know the Golden Gate National Recreation Area also extends down the Peninsula? In fact, some hidden gems of open space are found here, just south of San Francisco, including the spot where SF Bay was first viewed by Europeans.
On this hike, you will visit three units of the GGNRA in Pacifica with panoramic vistas, wildflower hotspots, and hear how the area was saved from development.
Approximately 11 miles and 1,800' elevation gain. One long, steep descent so good hiking shoes or boots recommended. Moderate pace; not for speed demons or gazelles, or for whom stopping for a view or wildflower is a distraction, but also not a hike for those just getting into shape.
• DO NOT attend if you are sick, coughing, sneezing, or have been around anyone who is sick.
• CDC Guidelines for COVID-19: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.htmlBring: water, lunch, weather-appropriate clothing.
