Meet: Ridge Trail Park on corner of Boulder Canyon Drive and Rancho Palomares Drive in the Five Canyons development in Castro Valley. Directions: From Oakland: 580 east to Grove Way/Crow Canyon Rd. exit. Left at exit on Grove Way. Pass under freeway and turn right onto East Castro Valley Blvd. Pass the strip mall with Safeway and make first right at light onto Five Canyons Parkway. Right on Boulder Canyon Drive. Thanks, everyone, for coming out on a hot day to explore a lesser-known, but pretty part of the trail! It was fun!

Just a reminder: please bring enough water for yourself and your dog (if applicable). There are no services along the trail. Should be a gorgeous day, though!

Please let me know if you haven't already, if you are bringing a dog. As far as I know right now, we only have four dogs: mine, Rita's 2, and Ziggi. Are there any more? If not, I will open it to a few more two-legged creatres!

If a spot opens up, I would love to attend this hike. If so, I'm looking for a ride from the East bay area. I live in Concord nearby Walnut Creek but I'm open to meeting you at a bart station that is along your way such as in Oakland or Walnut Creek

Hi Ken. Yes I can meet you at Macarthur bart station at that time. Thanks for the ride. If you need to call me on the day of the hike my cell number is (323) 359-5980. If I need to get a hold of you on the day of the hike, what is your contact number? If you don't feel comfortable posting your number here, you can send me an email to [masked] separately with that info. See you tomorrow, Ting

Hi Ken. I forget to include this question in my reply above. Should I meet you in the parking lot or past where the buses pull up at the end. So that I need what to look for, what kind of car do you drive? Thanks, Ting

Does anyone want to carpool from San Francisco? I can offer rides or put in for gas and tolls if someone else drives.

This is the first time in my life that I don't have a dog, so I'm thrilled to be coming on this hike. Anyone coming from Oakland that has carpool room? I live near Lake Merritt. Thanks.

Thanks Julie for your attention. I would be a bit stress around dogs, but if there is a hike I very much wanted to go, no dogs can stop me. :)

This hike is about 5 miles and about 1000 feet of elevation gain. 1-2 B Sierra Club rating.
