Synopsis: Hike through giant redwoods, along babbling brooks, and around impressive falls. Good trail conditions. Optional 1/2 mile post-hike walk on interpretive trail to see mother and father of the forest and other redwood attractions. Worth the drive.
If you wish to hike fast and get back early, this is not the hike for you. Mellow hikers welcomed.

Meet: 10 am at the Redwood Trail Head across from Big Basin State Park headquarters.
Estimated Return: Between 5 and 6PM
Bring: lunch and liquids. Insect repellant recommended for mosquitoes.
Cancellation: Any rain cancels.
Cost: $10 parking fee. Directions: take I-880/17 south to Highway 9 (Saratoga) exit in Los Gatos. Take 9 (right at exit) past junction with Highway 35 to junction with Highway 236. Take 236 (a narrow winding road) eight miles to park headquarters.
Carpools: leader at Walnut Creek BART at 7:45 am (expect 2 hour driving time from Walnut Creek); feel free to set up your own carpools. It's a long drive and company's good to have.
