Job Search Networking and Community Building

Connecting to a job opportunity is fun! Along the way, you'll meet wonderful people.

We exchange resources and tips. We especially welcome newcomers, addressing their questions.

We sit around the longest table in the store. The table can accommodate 10 people.

Now something to look forward to for Monday morning!

    On the issue of finding the perfect candidate, it occurred to me that one could try the following to overcome the objection that one doesn't have all the requisite qualifications.
    1. Point out that you could be trained.
    2. Ask how long they plan to look for the perfect candidate and what their backup plan is if one can't be found.
    3. Suggest that it might be faster to train you than make an extensive search for the perfect candidate
    3. Ask if it's okay to check back with them around the time when their hiring deadline arrives (in case they haven't found anyone).

    Just my thoughts.
    Tom.

      I like these ideas, too, but would definitely start with #3. I know at my workplace, they reconsidered earlier candidates later in the process, but figured that the candidate had moved on and didn't bother contacting 'em.

    * Try the Cupertino Rotary Jo Search Support Group.
    * Check out the CSIX Special Interest Groups
    * There's a DICE job fair at the Santa Clara Convention Center tomorrow (1/29/13)
    * Check out Workit.com

    Yeah, you're probably right. I'll change it.

    Shouldn't the RSVP be for more than 10 in case some don't show up? In my other groups, we always allow for that.
