[Intermediate] Kennedy Climb

Want to get your cardio on? Tackle all those climbs and elevation changes? We've got the ride for you.

Kennedy is a particularly hard climb, but once you hit Priest Rock it's all downhill and smooth sailing. On this ride we'll just try to get to the top of Kennedy RD and hit Priest Rock, then head back down. You can see the ride here:
http://connect.garmin.com/course/3062953

If we move fast, we can probably make it in 2 hours, going up Kennedy takes me roughly an hour from downtown, going down takes about 30 minutes.

I'll start off making this an intermediate ride since the climb is pretty rough, but if there are any beginners who want to join, just let me know and we can modify the game plan.

As always a helmet is required for all SJMTB rides and extra protective gear is recommended if you are tentative about riding down rocky trails. Extra water, a snack, and your basic trail side tools (multi-tool, tube, pump) should be sufficient for this longer ride.

Thanks again for riding with us! We always have so much fun.

Good meeting you tonight, awesome ride!! 14.7 miles, just shy of 3k' climbing, which means 3k' descending :-) Look forward to doing it again.

Is the ride still on for today? Demo was slippery this morning, but DM should be nice and dry by now.

I ride this pretty often, even after/during rain. It does not ride much different wet or dry, just rocky and up!

I may or may not have an irrational fear of slippery gravel and rock after a few accidents.

    Hey everyone,

I want to give Kennedy a bit of time to dry out.

I know this interferes with a few other rides but the bright side is Dogmeat might be scalable!

I was looking forward to today, but I am sure it is wet, not sure about tomorrow.

I would like to do this one day, just not there yet, maybe by fall

Hey Ed, I started this with always stopping every 1000 feet of elevation. To this day, it still hurts and I haven't not had to stop once. You'll get there and I was thinking of setting up a casual club as well.
