  • May 25, 2013 · 3:00 PM

Fire Road and/or singletrack options- your decision!

Strong/Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Level Ride. 10+ miles 2+ hours.

If the dirt lot is full park along-side the road on the same side of the lot just before or after it. If you're familiar with the Rincon pullout on HWY 9 in Santa Cruz- that is our meeting spot.

From San Jose: Take Hwy 17 to Santa Cruz. Go straight toward Santa Cruz and stay to the right. Turn right on River Street-turns into Hwy 9. Go 2.4 miles up and you will see the large parking area on the right.

Call me at[masked] if you get lost.

RIDE RATING:

PACE: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate-Slow Climbing with a stop in the middle of the climb, or stops to take pictures.

Fast Downhill pace- meet you at the bottom

10+miles

As always a helmet is required for all SJMTB rides and extra protective gear is recommended if you are tentative about riding down rocky trails.  If the ride is relatively short so you shouldn't need too much in the way of supplies.  Water, a small snack, and your basic trail side tools (multi-tool, tube, pump) should be sufficient for these rides.

Fun and beautiful trail with a great group of riders. The downhill section at the end was definitely worth the climb.

All smiles. Great logistics - we all found the ride start and were able to keep together. The ride challenged my riding skills but we were paced to keep the riding fun and social. Now I want to do more rides and improve.

Hey everyone - to not cause much stress I'm going to change the venue to Rincon off HWY 9. Look for changes soon. I didn't know about the blues festival when I first created this ride two months ago. Finding parking will be difficult for people not familiar with the location. Rincon ride can be a mix of single track and fire road similar to Nisene fire road. I will update the ride later this afternoon.

The Santa Cruz Blues Festival is this weekend in Aptos Village Park (next to the Aptos Creek Road turn off for Nisene). Just letting you know to expect unusual traffic and difficult parking in the area. We'll be able to hear music for our first mile or two.

What'd you do to it this time? ;)

Bent the connector bracket for the rear derailleur, which also wrecked the cable ... this is an expensive past time :D
