Slacker ride - Limn Kiln, Los Gatos

Free midweek? Come play with me! I'm flexible so LMK if a bit earlier or later time is better for you.

This was where it all started for me 25 years ago - my love of trail riding. It was my almost daily loop. But I'd like to try to extend it a bit this time. So lets climb to the top, then keep climbing to Kennedy and down Priest Rock. I'm not in fighting shape so not making any promises on pace!

PACE: intermediate girl. 7 mpg avg speed. Short regroups. If you find yourself more than 5 minutes behind the group, you may be dropped. Please be prepared to ride on your own. Note: If you don't know your average speed, I've been the slowest rider on most of the rides I've hosted on this site so the pace is pretty mellow!

MEETING POINT: Start of Los Gatos Creek Trail, near E. Main St., downtown Los Gatos. Haven't been there in a long time so not sure exactly where that is but I'll post my cell number so we can find each other.

DISTANCE - Around 9? miles. GAIN - dunno - A LOT!

NO HELMET = NO RIDE.

POST-RIDE REWARD: cake!  I can't go to LG without visiting Icing on the Cake near trail.

Finally was able to connect my gps - here's the full stats: Avg Speed: 5.9 mph
Avg Moving Speed: 6.4 mph (Moving? I thought speed was only a measurement of movement??! What's the other speed?) Anyone understand why there are two speeds?
      Max Speed: 29.1 mph
      Corrected gain: 3,398 ft

It was nice riding with you Winona and Henry. It was a perfect day. I needed an excuse to get away from the paperwork.

You can also say the entrance is literally right down the block from our sponsored shop Summit cycles. You guys are so close to my work that it sucks I can't go on this ride. Winona, can you tell me the conditions of Priest Rock on the downhill section after this ride? I haven't gone down it since last year near Winter. I usually only ride El Serreno (Overlook) when I ride in Los Gatos.

Doesn't it say in the ride description "climbing to Kennedy and down Priest Rock"?

Don't be cheeky. You're right it does! I wrote that while looking at a map. It looks fine btw.

Thanks Henry and Kerry for coming out! So glad it was cool and breezy - I thought the climb up Kennedy would never end! Cheers to Kerry for being our tour guide.

Hi guys, so glad you're joining me!

Meeting place: http://goo.gl/maps/rSwKS On E Main St, on the east end of the bridge that goes over Hwy 17. There is a trail entrance there. I will "check in" on the app when I'm there.

There's lots of public parking nearby and on the street but I don't know what the time limit on parking is. So allow time to find the right kind of parking. I'll be figuring it all out myself! See you there at 9:30! Wheels roll by 9:40

Bring tons of water and food - lots of climbing. I've emailed my cell number to you.

    Ciao! Winona

    thanks!

Have never ridden east bay and don't know where to. Why don't you host a ride meetup? There're probably people who would appreciate something in their area. Hope to see you Tuesday!
