Pacifica (Boyscout) Jump! Jump!

This was such a blast last month we're heading back.

This ride is for advanced-beginners/ lower-intermediates and up. Though if you're a true beginner--or not comfortable with jumps and drops at all--you're still welcome to come along to watch, then return on the paved fire road to avoid the trail all together. The ride up is relatively easy with one steep incline at the very end (30-40 meters at >12%).

For those who haven't been here before, I'll be leading a full loop of the entire course on the first ride up. Consider this a small tour of sorts. There are some very fun jumps, drops and berms in this lower section with some mind blowing jumps available for very advanced riders as well. I won't even consider hitting these but they're fun to point out. I'll also be stopping at intersections to point out optional trails for those who want to take an easier route back to the parking area. After that I'm returning to the upper section to session the jumps there.

Since the ramps on the upper section have tapered sides there are multiple levels of difficulty for practicing jumps. You can easily pop off the sides for practice and confidence building or get some bigger air by taking the crease. The run outs are long & level and the berth is wide, so you don't have to worry about trees and such. It's also just as easy to ride around anything you're not comfortable with.

ACHTUNG! A helmet is required, and for those jumping protective gear for the body is highly recommended. Please bring along water, snacks and willingness to challenge yourself, but don't go crazy.

I'm heading over to PUERTO 27 for some for lunch afterward. http://puerto27.com/

The pics you shot were pretty good. use an SLR? Next time, might have to come up and just shoot pics of everyone riding. It's just a pain in the ass to drag all my photo gear up a hill...lol.

Nice pics and videos. Are these repeat runs for multiple attempts at the same jumps?

how did it go y'all. Chaz, how's the hand feeling?

    • Fredric

Yeah I'm cool. I had to bail in mid air when I hit that step up way too fast and it was going to shoot me straight into that poison oak.

Really late reply (out of town all last week with no internet). Anyway, my wrists need a couple of weeks to heal :( Hope to be on the trails again soon. More importantly I hope you're okay Ser.

Great riding everyone. Was a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next one. I haven't sorted through the GoPro yet but there should be at least a little footage of everyone. I'll post a link when I upload it. Glad to hear everyone is ok. In my book, a little sore is good. Just a reminder of a fun weekend :)

My first trip with this group, im driving from Sunnyvale if anyone wants to rideshare. I have a truck so space and legroom are not an issue.

Just wondering how long it will take for us to finish this ride. Have to leave by 1:45 the latest. Will I make it back in time? Thanks.

Boyscout trail is not very long would be really easy to bail out if you needed to. The trail literally dumps you onto the street we are parking on.

I'll say yes for now, but there's a high chance the wifey will nix this ride.

It'll be triple "Boo" if I"m forced to do Mission Peaks that day as well.

You could always "force" her to ride ;)

Leaving from Fremont if anyone wants to comute

Since this isn't the kind of ride that requires intersection waits and such, I don't see a reason to put a limit on the number of attendees. Let's roll (and jump).

I still haven't really told the wife, but I did put it on my google calendar that she has access to. If I make it, expect the cameras to come out to catch our foolishness on the jumps.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
