Advanced Beginner Demo. Sawpit Ride

Hey everyone,
We've been having a blast riding demo with our advanced beginners. So let's get out there again with another great ride. This time we'll head down sawpit trail. That means more single track and a bit more climbing, but like all our rides for beginners and advancing beginners we'll keep the pace mellow and easy going with plenty of regroups especially in areas where we can work on specific skills to help people build extra confidence and improve their riding.

If you're completely new to The Demo please comment below to let us know about your past riding experience. This ride is designed to help riders that want to improve their skill level in a safe and fun environment. San Jose Mtb is all about having a great time and helping people become better riders is just a fringe benefit.

Cheers,
Dave

Good ride, met some new folks. A new first for me, riding in that storm. It's a good reminder that Demo season is near, and need to get back into shape for 3 loops+bacon. Winter, all Demo, all the time. Need to buy some mud tires, went sideways a few times.

Indeed. My captain was all kinds of unruly on lower sawpit.

... sideways, I RULE that geography.

Great ride everyone. Hope you all come back again real soon. Like Newton said winter in the bay is all about demo. Look for more and more demo rides in the coming months. Also be aware that rain rarely cancels them. Unless it's been really bad.

That was a lot of fun despite the rain (which is the cause for my currently dead cell phone). Great group people to ride with and thank you David for leading us safely through the ride!

Tim, aren't you so glad that SJMTB doesn't have all these crazy prerequisites and weird rules to let people on our rides?

Hope your cell comes back. Thats a bummer.

Was running a bit behind but now stuck behind a truck doing 20mph on summit. Sorry will be late.

David! Long time bro! I'll be there but with another group of riders starting sooner (riding 2 laps). Hopefully, we will run in to each other!

same parking lot - Hwy 17 to Summit exit which turns to Highland about 4 miles down - stay on Highland until see parking along the road about 6 miles down, right?

I think with this pace and the sheer number of riders, I think I'll be able to capture some awesome footage. It's going to be a great video for sure. For those who've never seen any of my vids, here's the last one of the jumping session we did on Braille trail here at Demo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8cqasb00wE

Check out my youtube page at Fmfrequency to see the other SJMTB vids.

Would love to do this ride but my wife is out of town that weekend so I'm going to have to stick to shorter early morning rides.

    NO MULT loops of sawpit?

    1 · September 1, 2013

    • David

double sawpit would be pretty rough for any sort of beginner. Riding tired is just asking for trouble at Demo. So we'll plan to ride just a single loop, and as Rich has mentioned. We'll be taking my usual Adv. Beginner approach and sessioning sections to help riders improve both skill and confidence.

If the next session takes form like the Corral ride than we would most likely run short on time for a second loop. Starting out an hour earlier will help but the weather will ultimately play a factor. It was muggy today. Sawpit is also a longer route and depending if we session trail features we may hang out longer on that trail. I look forward to memorizing more hits along this trail.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
