Beginners ride - Arastradero Preserve

BEGINNERS RIDE...

ARASTRADERO PRESERVE

With the season picking back up I want to spend a few weekends every month helping those just getting into this sport.  Whether you've been riding for a while and want to become a stronger, faster rider or have just started riding the trails these beginner rides can help you.  I'll be picking venues that are easier on climbing and technical features so that riders can focus on learning new skills and techniques in a less intimidating environment.  San Jose Mountain Biking has a proud history of helping new riders become confident beyond what they ever thought possible and we plan to continue this tradition.  This will still be more of a ride than a full on skills clinic so we won't be bringing out the props for this event.  I will however likely start with some drills to help people loosen up.

If you have any questions regarding this or any other San Jose Mountain Biking event please feel free to email us.

NOW THE NITTY GRITTY...

San Jose Mountain Biking is a group riding community.  We don't really encourage individuals to come out to our rides that want to do their own ride five minutes after starting with us.  We start together and stick together.  No one gets dropped period.  Of course if you have to bail for any reason, that's fine just make sure either myself or who ever is sweeping the ride knows and makes sure you know your way back to the cars.  SJMTB is okay with guests on our rides, even kids, just remember that they are your guests and as such they agree to the same terms of meetup that you did when you signed up http://www.meetup.com/terms/.  We have a very casual and fun attitude about ourselves and try not to take ourselves too seriously, heck we're just mountain bikers.  There are very few other rules we follow other than the stick together one...

• RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET ON ALL RIDES.

• THIS IS A MOUNTAIN BIKE GROUP... RIDE A MOUNTAIN BIKE (CX IS OKAY I SUPPOSE)

• RIDERS MUST OBEY THE RULES OF THE TRAILS.  THIS INCLUDES THE COMMON ETIQUETTE RULES OF RIGHT OF WAY (HIKERS, HORSES, THEN BIKES)

• RESPECT THE TRAILS AND EACH OTHER

• LAST BUT NOT LEAST... HAVE FUN!

I am usually pretty easy to get a hold of if you have any questions, related to the group, or bikes in general (I'm a bit of a bike geek).  Feel free to email me directly via the meetup link or @ [masked]

Thanks and happy trails,

David Butler

My ribs is just bruised. Got the xray. Still hurts coughing and taking a dump. But otherwise I'm OK. Will contemplate wilder ranch

Well time to hit the books and youtube for skills videos and writeups. Don't worry you're going to be back in no time.

    David,
So so sorry I missed you guy. I exit Foot hill from 280 and get lost. I found the parking lot after 3:40pm. I should not listen to my GPS. Hope to ride you guy next time.

    • David

Yes Holly, we ride at Arastradero for this reason. The hills are much more manageable for beginners

Where do I begin? Most downhills start with a slant up grade.

Yay! I am not a beginner, but I need more practice. Like alot. I will be in a blue Camry with a bike rack.
My ride is a silver Diamondback Zetec.
I also really need to learn how to ride with people, it freaks me out for some reason =B.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
