Liz's Bi-Weekly Wednesday Rides - This Week: Ptown Ridge/Sinbad Creek Trail/A

My bi-weekly Wednesday rides will strive to find locations suitable for beginner riders and will tend to stay in the East Bay area (with an occasional field trip thrown in here and there to the "West Bay" or South Bay). Now that it's dark out so early, the rides will solely be in the East Bay and will require lights. These rides will either be strenuous but shorter, or moderate in length but less strenuous. I'm open to changing the start time based on people's needs.

THIS WEEK: Take the easy route at Pleasanton Ridge (A/Tech-2/Phys-2/8 miles)!  Ptown Ridge is known for being steep and tough, but on the back side of the park is a completely flat trail perfect for total beginners and beginner night riders!  This ride also has options for more advanced riders to split off and hit some hills - so come one, come all!  Lights are required.  See the "Discussion" page for a thread about buying a light.

The map above is not quite right.  Once on Kilkare Rd, just follow it all the way to the end.  The dot on the map above is not at the end.  Park at the end of the road, which is where we will meet before we head into the park.  Please bring warm clothes in case it's very cold out!

I like night riding alot. Its not quite as sweaty, a bit cold, but fun to do with people. Next time we stop in that small Sunol town on the way out and drink beers.

I think you'll be fine for 6pm. I think 280 to 680 is your best bet. Try to avoid 237 (unless you work right over by Great America or something). I'm leaving around that time from Mtn View. And you won't need even close to 3 hrs of light!

ACtually looking at the map I"m not sure I can physically make it in time.

Santa Clara. I am going to try to leave at 445 and bring the bike in the car. Will I need more than three hours of light?

@Jason - No problem! I aim to please :) I'll change it to 6pm since no one has RSVPed yet. What city will you be coming from? I can give you a better idea of traffic/time.

Hello, I totally want to come out on some night rides, and if tyhere was no traffic could make 500 pm, however because its the East Bay for me 6 pm is more realistic (I might need an hour to get there). My two cents.
