Santa Cruz Live Oak Grange (map)
Notice that we are back to meeting at 7pm.
Looks like some of our Grange friends are going to be returning to the potluck.
I am going to bring a few potluck items made with some of my home grown flour corn; a sponge cake made with the Cherokee White and a small amount of parched Mandan Lavander Parching corn for sampling. I will probably bring a pot of baked beans also.
Come on down and socialize and share food --Let's brainstorm some meetups, Im thinking of a clothes swap/alteration meetup at the Grange in the near future -- Any other ideas ? How about some follow up Garden plot meetups at a local coffee shop ?
I am still looking for someone to take on helping with hosting this, so if you like the potluck and want to keep it going, get in touch with me !
Since this is a regular event many folks do not RSVP--but it's nice when you do.
Bring a nice dish (and serving implement) and/or beverage. The Grange has a full kitchen, with devices to reheat things cooled and plenty of tableware. Also bring something for the market table if you'd like to.
What's a market table? Our potlucks are a way to share when we produce more of something than we need or otherwise have surplus of the stuff of sustainable living. Just bring your bounty to sell, barter, or gift on the market table.
Please wash your dishes and such. We could also use some help putting away chairs and tables and sweeping up at the end of the evening.
Some potluck tips: - In general, try to bring enough of your dish that if you and your crew only had that to eat, you'd all be full - Label your dish: what is it?, is it veggie or vegan?, nuts in there?, gluten? (an ingredients list or recipe would be even better!) - How fun to bring quarter-page copies of the recipe for your dish! - No fingers in serving bowls or lips on serving spoons!
Guests welcome in your RSVP. See ya!
No, not realy anything. And, are you talking about the gift (free) table or selling something ? The only things to be sold there, are items made or grown at home. Gifting is any useful household/garden items and food, take back what is left at end, and dont bring a whole garage sale at once.
Just took the cake out of the oven and some homegrown berries out of the freezer to go on it, smells great ! We've never done a chiffon cake with homegrown corn flour before. The beans soaked all last night and cooked this morning over the wood stove and rice is in the solar cooker-- Looks like we're getting ready for the potluck

What kind of items are considered "marketable"? Anything? And we just haul whatever stuff we brought away when we go?
