THIS MONTHS SPEAKER!
Our next General meeting topic will be Animal Rights and The Environment: July 15 6:30 PM San Jose. Message for instructions and address.
There is no denying that humans have had an enormous impact on our environment and all other animals. We are currently facing dramatic global warming and climate change, ocean acidification and destruction, ground water and river pollution, deforestation, and the greatest mass extinction in 65 million years, all largely due to human activity. And our exploitation and consumption of animals is one of the biggest contributors to environmental degradation, which causes the most suffering to non-human animals.
Please join key DxE contributors Isabella La Rocca and Lucia Fatone for a presentation and discussion group about the impact of human activity on the environment and on non-human animals. We will also address the challenge of making alliances with environmental groups that often ignore or belittle animal rights. Finally, we will discuss what we can do as individuals and as a group to help change the destructive course of human consumption and activity.
We will talk about the global grass-roots network, Direct Action Everywhere, recent DxE actions, and ask for your ideas on activism as well.
SCCAA Agenda items will be shared prior to the speaker.
The meeting place is in San Jose off the Alameda and 880.
