Come on in and discuss a good non-fiction book, The Sixth Extinction, by Elizabeth Kolbert! Lunch at Michael's on Main in Soquel. See you there! In the meantime, don't forget to send me book suggestions for August.

Thanks Amie-I hope peeps do google it. Really a good read on many levels: a mystery, a romance, and an education of sorts re the brain (if you can believe that)--and very well written. And a surprise ending...In addition, it was translated from the Danish, and I enjoyed the subtly different perspective it has throughout; I found it a refreshing change from our normal U.S. perspective. Lots to think about when finished. How about that for a rave review?

I'm sorry i won't be coming to the discussion. I do have a suggestion for a book-YOU DISAPPEAR by Christian Jungersen. Best, most thought- provoking book I've read in awhile! And not depressing......

Ooo, I like not depressing. :) I'll put it in the poll. Thanks!

Thought I would be O.K. for the meeting, following minor surgery....Still recovering so will be unable to attend. Loved the book!
I'm sorry you couldn't make it. Get better, and we'll see you in August!
Nice Meetup! Intellectual discussion. Very cool people.

"Man Versus Nature: The Road to Victory"
Title of a fake documentary in an old episode of the Simpsons. Popped in my mind when I saw the title for this month's book.

Seems like I'm going to miss one meeting after another. Sorry to be a no show. I will keep in touch with books you choose and try to make it back in Sept. Have fun all y'all.

We just grab a coffee and speak French. Some people have been coming every week for months... it creates a kind of warmth to the group.
