Topic– Where High Tech and Low Tech Merge:
James Allen, REAII–Project Scientist: Allterra Environmental, Inc.
While high tech gadgetry gets all the attention and headlines (think iPhone), there is a growing mid-tech revolution that has its sights set on saving the Planet. How? By merging low-tech simplicity with high-tech wizardry, we create a happy medium solution for energy, water, transportation, and food that is practical and sustainable. For example:
• Automated sensors and pumps + simple rain water catchment = water conservation, pollution reduction, and groundwater recharge
• Cloud computing and social networking + urban farmers and restaurants = meals travel less than 20 miles
Topic: Leading Technical Professionals for Sustained High Performance:
Jack McGrogan–High-tech HR Business Partner
Jack typically works with Business Leaders who have the challenge of attracting, retaining, developing and leading employees in a challenging fast-paced environment. He helps the leaders to build and grow focused, high performance teams. Jack was the 19th employee hired at local successful applications-based storage start-up, InterSAN where he was HR Director and helped grow the company to 75 employees before eventual sale to Finisar.
“Learning Panel” with Mash, James and Jack–Moderated by Dave
The Panel will solicit questions from audience on technical and entrepreneurial subjects, directed to guest presenters.
I enjoyed all the speakers, but as a journalist, Mash of Fast Pencil, was the highlight. Please consider having him back as the sole speaker at the SC New Tech Meetup to give him more time.
I agree with Karen -- Mash was fun to listen to -- and I'd especially like to hear more about how he forms his technical teams...
Yes, interesting meeting. Mash's topic drew me to this meetup. David Britton is an excellent moderator - I like his style!
