Kayaks & Canines at Canyon Lake

Our sister group, the Nature Hounds, are having a day of fun at Canyon Lake and we're invited! This is going to be the most fun filled day that you can spend with your dog (or without one)! They've reserved Group Shelter #1, which is on the right side of the road before you enter the "park perimeter," It is seperate from the other pavillions and camping areas which should allow us a little more privacy . So, join your Nature Hounds pals for a day of kayaking, hiking, swimming (with our own beach area, visible from the pavillion) socializing and chillin' & grillin, all in one place!! If you haven't had an opportunity to attend one before, the pavillion includes a shaded area with tables, electricity, grills and (this year) a beautiful view of Canyon Lake from the pavillion perched on a hill! I'll be bringing at least 5 of my kayaks for members to use to see if they have a kayaking canine! Admission will be $5 per person (to help pay for the pavillion):

Admission includes entry and access to the main dishes of our potluck (hamburgers, BBQ & hot dogs). Also, please note in your RSVP any items that you will be bringing for the potluck. Directions: Canyon Park is located on the North shore of Canyon Lake near Hancock. From IH 35N, take Exit 191 north of New Braunfels, Texas. Drive West on FM[masked] Miles, turn left on Canyon Park Road. From US 281N, turn east on FM 306. Travel east 12 miles, turn right on Canyon Park Road For reference points, there is a blinking traffic light with Hancock Plaza shopping center located directly across 306 from Canyon Park Road Check out pictures from one of our past Paws-a-Paloozas here.

I've only kayaked a couple times. I'm considering bringing one of my old dogs but never done anything like this or large groups with her.

It will be great, it a lake so a lot more open water with no flowing current . What you can try is some short paddle runs close to shore to build some confidence in each the dog and you .
