Couchbase with Michael Nitschinger

We are joining the ViennaDB - The Austrian Database Meetup Group for an in-depth introduction to Couchbase by Michael Nitschinger, one of its engineers!

The first part will cover Couchbase itself and then he will go all reactive with Scala and Reactive Couchbase

Hope to see you all there!

For my taste not enough Scala.
Furthermore I missed the "big picture", i.e. the network view. I got confused by the usage of the terms "server", "server group", "cluster", "node", "data center", "database", "bucket". Are some of them synonyms?
There must be some sort of network definition/description language, and coding examples would surely have helped.

Ok, let's see if I've got it:
database == bucket (term also used in Riak). server == node.
cluster == multiple nodes, which provide one (or more) buckets together.
datacenter == all the nodes in a single location with low network latency as opposed to cross datacenter with high latency.
server group == tagging / naming of specific servers, for example in a rack, so your data will be replicated across racks.

PS: I found the talk really interesting, but I'm coming more from the database side. However, since the Java / Scala driver nicely abstracts the database, I don't think more examples would have cleared up these terms.

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
