Scala introduksjon og Futures og Promises

  • October 9, 2013 · 6:00 PM

I am having trouble understanding who the target audience was of the meetup. For people new to Scala and FP the introduction part was to terse, and people with rudimentary Scala knowledge would already know this stuff. I also lacked a discussion on where Scala fits in, and where you would use Futures/Promises instead of threads.

On the positive note, the prepared tutorials worked without a flaw.

Agreed, we could have included a discussion about futures vs threads, and perhaps futures vs actors. As Sjur mentions, the workshop targets a broad audience making it difficult to make it equally interesting for everyone.

I really enjoyed the code challenges. Though I think the findSumOfAllMaxFactors is too challenging being labeled introductionary for complete Scala newbies. Maybe put it as an extra for those who have the time and knows the Scala basics.

Artig.

Hadde vært gøy, men er trippelbooket denne gangen. Kule oppgaver var det dog :)
