The Swedish Women's Educational Association (SWEA) holds an annual Swedish Christmas Bazaar at the Embassy of Sweden. The bazaar showcases Swedish crystal, textiles, artwork, food, and include a Lucia procession performing traditional Swedish Holiday songs at 5 pm.
This event is free to the public, but I recommend that you arrive early! The Swedish Bazaar is a popular event and you risk standing in a long line outside or not getting in at all if you wait to go later in the day.
Also, it’s a good idea to carry cash on you. Some of the vendors take credit cards but others don’t. If I remember correctly from last year, the food vendors on the basement level would only take cash.
This is a great event where you can bring your non-Swedish speaking friends and family, the more the merrier!
The Swedish Embassy is located in Georgetown. The easiest way to get there is on metro. The Foggy Bottom station is approximately a 15 minute walk from the embassy. For directions and information on metro, visit www.wmata.com.
