Discussion: Citizen Science with Darlene Cavalier

  • Jan 16, 2014 · 6:00 PM
  • Arizona Science Center

Join us as Darlene Cavalier, founder of SciStarter and a pioneer in the Citizen Science movement, discusses how online communities are expanding the reach and visibility of citizen-based projects. After the lecture and discussion at the Arizona Science Center, we'll continue the conversation at the nearby Rose & Crown pub.

There is discounted validated parking for this event at the "Heritage Square Parking Lot" (SE corner 5th St and Monroe St, one block south of Van Buren St). Disregard any outside signs stating "$12 Event Parking". Remember to have your parking ticket stamped at the front desk of the AZ Science Center when you enter.

The event itself is free of charge.

I'm so sad this conflicts with school. This looks exactly like what I enjoy.

I did a dry run tonight on my way to a different function. Driving downtown is scary, parking is even scarier. I live N Central Phoenix does anyone want to carpool? If not I am going to pass. Thanks

Hi Liz. My best advice is to bring a friend or two. Heritage Park and the parking facility are fairly well lit and generally pretty active in the early evening. But it's always best not to walk around alone.

This is my first meeting as well. Is it a family friendly event, or for adults only?

Hi Anita. Sorry not to put that information in! Our Science Cafes are adult-oriented, in general. This particular event is appropriate from high school level and up. We look forward to seeing you there!
