That's Science Fiction presents The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972)

This group meets on the first Tuesday of each month to view SF and other genre related films.

One night in 1918, a mysterious lawyer, Mr Blunden, arrives on the Camden Town doorstep of recently widowed Mrs Allen and her children, offering the woman a job as a caretaker for a house in the country. He warns the children not to be scared of ghosts on the estate and then leaves.

It was such an old house it sometimes seemed that all the past was gathered up inside it as if in a great box; as though it had a life of its own that continued to exist just beyond the reach of eyes and ears. And did the amazing Mr Blunden, who knew so much about the Allen's mean to hurt or help them? And what about those ghosts who seem so troubled from another age?

Delightful, magical, sweet, charming and quaint are all words to describe this film. But so do the words creepy, chilling, spooky, uncomfortable, horrid and dark. It is the perfect mix for a film. The perfect film to explore the afterlife.

Dining follows the movie.
