Trip To Star Trek Phase 2 - Port Henry, NY

[masked]- Final Update - Where we'll meet -

Our gathering location is changed to the Park and Ride at exit 8 of I-87 in Clifton Park.  Meet there at 8:15 a.m.  Here is a map to the Park and Ride:  http://www.ipool2.net/Exit%208.htm The exit 8 Park & Ride also has a Dunkin Donuts right next door, if anyone needs breakfast or coffee before heading out. Coming from Albany take a left and take the next left at second light. Go all the way to the back and left again to get to the parking area.

[masked] - Update - I have been in touch with James Cawley - executive producer of Star Trek - Phase 2. Our destination will be 2242 Main St. in Port Henry, NY Shooting there will start early in the morning. When we arrive is not a problem. At this point, shooting will be done mainly on the USS Enterprise bridge set. Help will be needed in many areas ranging from set dressing, to electrical, lighting, possibly being an extra, etc. We will know more when we get there what's needed. If you just want to observe, that's ok too as long as we don't get in the way. There is no problem for photography.

Hi folks:

We have been invited by James Cawley  - executive producer of webisode series Star Trek Phase 2 to come up to Ticonderoga to help out with their production, have some fun, etc.Meeting at 8Am where I live in Albany would be a good idea.

Per James:

We shoot from June 9 thru the 19th. There is always lots of fun stuff to help out with on a shoot both behind and in front of the camera. You can take photos, but we ask if it is story related we approve them before you post them online.

Had an outstanding time at the set. Everyone was friendly and welcoming to the entire group. Thank you Dr. Yee for being such a gracious host. Some of my childhood (and honestly adulthood) dreams were fulfilled.

I so enjoyed my visit to both the 1960's past and yet also to the future of space travel. Many thanks to Dr. Yee for his excellent tour guide skills and for understanding the fan excitement we could not contain. Many thanks to James Cawley for building such an exciting universe to enjoy. My thanks to Bob, Curt, Andrew and Patrick for driving. I want to express that the joy of seeing those sets so lovingly made was equal to meeting the devoted directors, technicians and actors. They work so hard and the results are just spectacular. Thanks again for an experience of a lifetime.

One of the great pleasures in life is watching the faces of fans the first time they step on the bridge. It was great having you all up here.

Exit 8 park and ride would be easier( can't believe I forgot about it seeing I pass it everyday). You can get to it both north and south bound very easily.

Recommended directions: Take Northway to Exit 28, Route 74 east to Ticonderoga,. Several miles to junction of Route 9N. Turn left, go north to Port Henry, about 25 minutes. Pay attention to speed limits. RFS studio is run down (everything in PH is run down) brown building on right just after you pass Port Henry sign. Be prepared to sign lots of legal paperwork when you arrive.

    Jerry Lonn--

Can you get to Colonie Center before 8:00 a.m.? After I pick up Jerry & Ellen in downtown Albany, I can come back to Colonie Center to get you and then hop on I-87 to head to the Clifton Park exit 8 Park & Ride. Make sure you have Jerry Silber's phone number with you. (It's in the meetup announcement.)

Bob: Yes, that is the one. Andrew: Crescent Rd, Bob had a link in a previous note.

does anyone know the street address for The exit 8 Park & Ride ?

    June 13, 2013

  • Jerry S.

Hi folks: Is there anyone here who lives in the Capital Region area who doesn't have a car, but wants to go and to carpool? Please speak up.

    June 13, 2013

  • Henry J.

I will see everyone at the Exit 8 Clifton Park, park and ride at 8:15am

    June 12, 2013

The exit 8 Park & Ride also has a Dunkin Donuts right next door, if anyone needs breakfast or coffee before heading out. Coming from Albany take a left and take the next left at second light. Go all the way to the back and left again to get to the parking area.

So, Chris and John: Is this the one?
    http://www.ipool2.net/Exit%208.htm

Henry, sounds like Clifton Park is the place to meet at 8:15 a.m. Jerry's cell phone number is in the meetup announcement; make sure you have it if you need to contact him.

Silbers, I will pick you up at 7:30.

    June 12, 2013

  • Henry J.

Sorry about the previous. My finger hit post. My +2 cancelled on me. I can go to Clifton Park or the Sears at Colonies Center. I can also ride with someone or take my car up there. I am pretty flexible. Everyone needs to be on the same page as to where and when we are going to meet. Please let me know. Looking forward to meeting everybody.

    Hi Bob

    June 12, 2013

  • Bob R.

Here's my summary/suggestion: John -- identify the exact location to meet in Clifton Park, and communicate it to the group. John, Andrew, Chris, Patrick meet there at 8:15. Bob picks up the Silbers at 7:30 at their apt and goes to Clifton Park as well. Unknown at this point is what Henry Jackson's (+ 2 guests) plans are: whether he will travel on his own schedule, or whether he wants to ride with others.

Any other meetup members considering going should RSVP soon so we can ensure we have rides for everyone.

it would be more convenient for me to goto a meeting place between exits 8 and 9 on northway as well.

I don't mind doing a little driving. I can take upto 3 other people
. I can meet at the rest stop or a park and ride between exit 8 and 9. whatever is easiest for people to get there. Please let me know the time and place where to be.

    June 12, 2013

  • Jerry S.

Hi folks - I want to get a head count of who's going to this, who's going to be driving and offering carpool, and those who want to go and need a ride. Please make sure you compensate your driver. Also, please be aware: this will be a little over 2 hours, we will be on a set, it may be hot at times, there may be a lot of standing, there might me some physical activity involved with helping out on the Phase 2 set. Are you up to it? If you feel you don't have the physical stamina to handle it, it's ok. We don't want to have members of our group to be treated in Sickbay on Enterprise 1701. Remember - it's just a set. If you feel it won't work out, it's ok.

    June 12, 2013

  • John L.

There are also the Park & Rides off exits 8 and 9. A little easier to get back to when we return.

    June 12, 2013

  • Bob R.

Patrick is planning to come to the rest stop as well.

    June 12, 2013

  • Chris

    That is the one.

Actually that may be more convenient for me to meet there too. If there are a couple of others that would like to meet there, 4 of us could meet there and carpool from there. Let me know! Otherwise I guess I would go down to albany instead

    June 11, 2013

  • Bob R.

    Chris,

You're talking about the first rest stop listed here, right?
    http://www.adirondacknorthway.com/exits/nbreststops.php

Seems doable to me. We're not sure who's driving at this point.

Does Jerry have your cell number? (Jerry's cell is listed in this meetup announcement.)

    June 11, 2013

  • Chris

Actually how about the rest stop just past Exit 9 on 87. More parking there. And I could be there[masked] ish. As long as the patients don't take forever to leave.

    June 10, 2013

  • Bob R.

Chris, could you make it over to 7 and 87 by 8:15 or so? We could pick you up

    June 10, 2013

  • Chris

Probably wont make it. 8 in Albany was a tight schedule, 745 farther from Troy makes it almost impossible.

    June 10, 2013

  • Chris

Something has come and I have to bail on it - have fun all.

    June 9, 2013

  • Henry J.

I have always wanted to visit the set.

    May 11, 2013

  • Ellen S.

It will really be cool to see an actual set in person. I hope a lot of our members will join us on this adventure.

    April 1, 2013

  • Dr. Willie K. Y.

I'll already be there. Looking forward to seeing you.
