I like this idea, though I do prefer the idea of having one in the beginning of the month, one at the middle. It’s sort of self defeating, in my opinion, to have two potentially one day after the other.
I also like the idea of having a group SkyDrive or dropbox,
as I have a difficult time just listening like someone else mentioned. Perhaps, for the sake of privacy, we can make it so that it’s a password protected dropbox. Password could be distributed only to individuals present day of, and any uploaded content is deleted at the end of meeting? Maybe it’s paranoia, but I would much rather read along as the author is reading than risk any joe shmoe joining the group with the exclusive intention of stealing someone’s work.

I, for one, enjoy the freewheeling nature of the Vault, but i can also see the utility of a more formalized meeting. I propose to start a new group, called Vault2, to meet on the first Tuesday of each month. If there is interest, I will go Quills tomorrow and make the reservations. I will also show up to pay for the room and act as moderator, until someone
else shows that they want to do that. I'm not really the moderator type.
People will, of course, be free to go to either group or
This will be more formal. I will set up a facebook group that anyone who wants to participate can access. In order to participate, you have to submit what you are going to bring to the meeting one by the Saturday before the meeting, either by posting it on the site or by emailing it to the members. You may also elect to read at the meeting, if you are concerned about putting your work on the internet, but the people who posted in advance go first. Each person gets 15 minutes (or more if there is not too many people) to read and receive critique. You may also elect not to read and only accept critique of your written
let me know if people are interested, then I will start to make it happen.

Subject: Re: [scifiwriting-1] Member Limits at Quills. Suggestions.
Another suggestion that was made was to put a time limit on how much reading and critique time a writer gets, which would allow more people to read. The time limit would also mean that people would be more selective about what scene they chose, like writing that needs work, etc. I believe she formulated it as five minutes of reading and then 10 minutes of critique, but we could always adjust that formula.
I think it would also be a good idea for people who sign up for the MeetUp to commit that they have writing they want to read, or if they're coming to listen/check out the group. That would give us a better idea of expectations.
As much as I love Quills, if there is another location available, I'm hoping we could consider it. I'm wracking my brain to think of a place that has
enough space, privacy, etc.

As you might know, the fire marshal has informed us that we can only have 14 people in the meeting room at a time. Since we have been running well over 14 for the last few months, this causes a problem.
#1 - Our group is getting BIG. Yeah!
#2 - Not everyone that wants to read is getting the opportunity. Not yeah!
#3 We all want to participate. Yeah!
So here is an idea I wanted to bounce off you all. What would you say to there being 2 meetings a month? One on the first Wednesday as we have now and the second on say the 3rd Wednesday of the month. You could go to either or both, but only the first 14 people to sign up with an RSVP could attend. We would need to check with Quills to see if we could have that date, it would need to be paid for as
usual, and we would need someone to run the meeting each month on the second session. Lizard runs the first meeting of the month.
We could also look into yet another place where we could all fit, but it would not solve the problem of everyone having time to read.
Suggestions??? Thoughts??? Protest posters?
