Beginner spots (2) - Indoor Climbing at the GCC

This is a taster session for beginners to try indoor climbing with the group at the Glasgow Climbing Centre and will run alongside the regular club night. The taster session will last for two hours and you will get a chance to progress your climbing alongside the rest of the group and also join them for tea break.

Please meet at the reception at the entrance at 7:15PM - if you are running late say to the staff you are with the climbing group and are expecting to be signed in.

This meetup is open to complete beginners. This is a session to introduce you to the regular group sessions which run on Thursday nights. It is ideal for complete beginners to have a taster of indoor roped climbing.  Please don't sign up for this if you're just looking for a refresher - if that is what you are looking for, then please leave a comment on the discussion board at the bottom and we can run a separate session to refresh skills.

This session is organised by a competent climber sharing their experience with people of lesser experience.

We'll be at the Glasgow Climbing Centre on Paisley Road West.

For anyone who's not visited before, you'll find directions on their website here.

A virtual tour of the main climbing area can be found here. Photos of a previous trip can also be viewed here.

As well as the main area, there are also several bouldering areas, an additional top roping area and a training room.

(Equipment hire is also available - you will need rock boots and a harness)

Entry price for our regular club night, on production of our membership card, is now £4 (£6 if you need boots and a climbing harness) As you will be signed in by a regular member, this cost applies to you too.

Numbers are restricted and managed automatically through the waiting list on the site - first come first served. Please only RSVP yes if you are intending to come. If you change your mind please say so to allow someone else to have a shot - if you are at the top of the waiting list please check close to the event time to see if there is a late drop out. If you have significant 'no shows' in the past or there is doubt about your attendance you may be removed from the event or waiting list.

Alternatively, there are spaces for beginners at bouldering at The Climbing Academy on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Please answer the RSVP question as I need to know what climbing experience you have.  Thanks :-)

To the folk on the waiting list - I'll run this session every 2 weeks at least for the next few months so you should be able to get a place at one of these sessions. People might drop out at the last minute, so it's always worth keeping an eye on the site.
