Geal Charn (Monadh Liath)

A stand-alone munro to the south of the Monadh Liath range.

  • Grade: Moderate/Hard
  • Distance: 15km
  • Ascent: 650m
  • Time: approax. 5 hours (depending on conditions)

We will take the route from Garva Bridge up the south-west ridge of the hill and return the same way.  [This avoids any potential stream-crossing problems on the alternative route]

The route is described on page 149 of the SMC Munros book, and on the walkhighlands web-site.

See you all at the start of the walk on Saturday morning.
Weather looks reasonable: a bit windy but not too much; some sunshine; good visibility - might get some views! but remember it could be cold on the summit so bring a layer for that.
If anyone needs to contact me my number is: 07922028535. Ade

Hello there, I wonder can anybody offer me a petrol-sharing lift from Glasgow? I'm in the West End, near to city centre, but could meet anywhere that's handy. Thanks! N

Hi Folks. Just to be clear, since Belinda has raised the issue. Two qualifications to what I said about not needing winter gear. Boots are atrongly recommended, given the ground can be very wet and am not sure if the summit is rocky. If you've got an axe, bring it, in case there is still some cornicing around the corrie. Will check that everyone has transport nearer the time.
