Social Sail Thursdays!

Come down to the marina and join us for a Social Sail!

We offer Flying Scot sailing excursions around the lagoon and a tasty on-shore cookout dinner with a special host each week. This week there is a special meal for fundraising for the Leukemia Cup Regatta.  All proceeds go the the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  As such, we are asking for a $10 donation for the food this week.

Look for a crowd of people enjoying the yummy dinner at the Sailing Club of Washington's Food cart. We will be on the river side next to the large yellow cranes used to put boats in the water. Look for the SCOW sign with the blue sailboat logo.

The set up for Social Sails starts between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM, and includes putting Flying Scots in the water. Volunteers help set up and skipper boats. Please notify the Social Director if you are available to assist. Social Sail end at dusk.

Social Sails take place every Thursday evening during sailing season which is April to the first week of October at the Washington Sailing Marina from 6:00PM to dusk.  You don't have to have any sailing experience to participate.  All are welcome!

Well worth my time. I appreciate effort expended by senior SCOW members to make it happen. Next time, I might bring a chair so that I do less standing in the parking lot, while waiting for a boat ride. Plenty of places to ride you bicycle in proximity, too, if you wish to combine sailing with bike riding.

Where do you recommend we park our cars? Some parking in that area is restricted to one hour or two hours, and empty spaces are scarce. Thanks.

Almost all the parking at the marina has no time limit. There are only a few spaces near the docks for boat owners that are limited to loading and unloading. There's also an overflow lot off to the right as you come in from the parkway, but the regular parking lot usually doesn't fill up on Thursday evenings.

George, just to make sure you know where this is, this is Washington Sailing Marina, off the GW parkway, just south of Reagan National Airport. This is not the S.W. Waterfront in DC off of Maine Avenue.
