Learned to sail on O-day Daysailors in Newport, RI, and got to race once during Larchmont Race Week in the mid-'70s. Was the "commodore" for 17 racing teams on the USS Oklahoma City, homeported in Japan, and raced all over the Pacific, including the Philippines (where we sailed 470s and Flying Scots), Hong Kong (dismasted once) and Australia. Best experience was cruising on a Mariner 31 topsail schooner in Tokyo Bay.
USNSA Class C license (25 years ago)
Would like to crew
I used to sail and race quite a lot in the '70s and '80s -- had a Class C license from the US Naval Sailing Association, but pretty much went away between children and moving to northern Virginia. I would very much like to get back into it.
This was our first sail as new members. Thoroughly enjoyed both the sailing and the socializing.
