PROPOSED "NO SHOW/ NO CALL POLICY"
Because we meet as invited guests in the homes of our members who are kind enough to clean, set up tables & chairs, prepare coffee & tea and make themselves cheerful for us, we all must observe the courtesy to show up for games that we have signed up for. If some circumstance (veterinary emergency, etc.) requires a member to break a commitment, or be significantly late, he or she is expected to phone the host and inform them or leave a message. Sending an email a few hours before the game is not a substitute for a phone call!
The first time a member is a no show/no call, he or she will get a nicely worded reminder from one of the organizers. The second time, he or she will get a business-like reminder. The third time, he or she will be removed from the Meetup.
Please post feedback on the discussion board.
REFERENCE DICTIONARY POLICY (JULY 2009)
For "social play" we may use the red Fourth edition Official Scrabble Dictionary (OSD) that is "clean" of expurgated words related to sex, bathroom functions and pejoratives. This is the approved family play dictionary and has meanings listed.
Any player who desires it, however, may use the blue Offical Word List OWL. This is unexpurgated but has no definitions listed. Using the OWL allows more words than the OSD.
No member is required to purchase either the OSD or the OWL. There are generally several of each available at games.
