Flashbacks, Time Shifts, Montage. Read and Discuss Screenplay MIDNIGHT IN PARIS

  • Aug 16, 2014 · 9:30 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

Update: 8/15/14 4:44pm - I could not find any details about events at the park. Weather looks awesome for tomorrow. Waterfront Park is at the bottom of Prince Street along the water. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket. A Firehook and Starbucks are within 1/2 block from the park if you wish to stop there first.

We will discuss the Oscar winning screenplay written by Woody Allen, MIDNIGHT IN PARIS.  Our focus will be on the use of flashbacks and time shifts and how to use them in a compelling manner.

Feel free to share 2-3 pages of your original work to get unbiased feedback from the group as it relates to flashbacks and time shifts.

Note Francis Ford Coppella's screenplay competition, ZOETROPE, deadline is early September.

As I mentioned before, I won't be there this weekend, but I will update you, since this meet-up marks my "deadline." I received my coverage from Austin Film Festival yesterday. It was pretty terrible. I have uploaded it, along with the version of Mother Judgers they read, to the Files (under More above). The idea is for you to see what you might expect to get from a coverage service. Also, for anyone that has already read my script and has the time, would you give the coverage a glance to help me see which points are valid and which are just totally off the mark and should be ignored? As this was one reader, I'm now considering having another read of the same draft done elsewhere, just to compare. So frustrating. :(

I also submitted to the Screencraft Comedy Script Contest. Quarterfinalists will be announced tomorrow, I think.

Obviously, I'm not going to put it up on The Blacklist website until I'm more confident that it will be better received. So, deadline _kinda_ met. :) Have fun!

I have to work this weekend, so I will not be able to attend this Saturday either. I really needed to be at this one because I have flashbacks in my screenplay and am so unsure of how to use and work them into my script. Any information you all can provide from the meeting would be greatly appreciated. Have fun this sunny Saturday!

Weather for Saturday morning looks awesome. Just a heads up that I *might* change the location to Waterfront Park (down the road from LPQ). But I want to find out if any events are scheduled first. In the meantime, does anyone object? It will mean bringing a folding chair or blanket to sit on.
