First Blue Springs Spring Dive

THIS IS ONE OF OUR MOST POPULAR DIVE EVENTS OF THE YEAR!

DETAILS:

1-- Meet at the gate at 8 don't be late without communicating with someone in the group.

2 -- Scuba divers MUST have a dive partner present @ the time of check in!

3 -- DIVERS need to bring all of their gear with them! THERE IS NO SCUBA RENTAL OR FILLS ON SITE.
Suggested gear: 3 or 5 mm wetsuit, 2 tanks, in addition to the usual stuff. Lights are not allowed for Open Water Certifications in Blue Springs ($150 fine if caught).

4 -- This event is planned as a "2 tank" dive.

5 -- NO LIGHTS ALLOWED unless Cavern or Cave certified.

6 -- Last dive will begin no later than 2 pm.

7 -- At least one Dive Master will be available for anyone who wants refresher training.

LUNCH about 12 noon. We will grill hamburgers and other items for lunch! Each person should bring something to contribute to the meal (paper plates, cups, soft drinks, bottles of water, condiments, chips, cookies, etc.)

BRING YOUR ENTIRE FAMILY!

Blue Spring offers swimming and scuba diving in a crystal clear, 72 degree spring run. It is one of the few sites where divers and non-divers can mingle at the dive site! following the dive, usually drift down to the exit point and get to see lots of underwater wildlife, esp brim, perch, mullet, and even a talapia or two.

Nice changing facilities are available so bring dry clothes for the ride home.

Friends and family can enjoy tubing the crystal clear waters of Blue Spring run. The entry point is just downstream from the spring boil, and the takeout is approximately a quarter mile downstream at the swim dock. Bring non divers can own raft or tube and enjoy the day drifting downstream with their diving friends only 1-2 feet below them.

Blue Spring is a designated manatee refuge. Temperatures in the spring run remain a constant 72 degrees; creating a safe haven for the West Indian Manatee. To provide a safe warm water refuge for manatees during the winter season, the spring and spring run is closed to all water related activities including swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving and boating from November 15 through March 1.

Each person should bring something to contribute to the meal (paper plates, cups, soft drinks, bottles of water, condiments, chips, cookies, etc.) Potato salad sounds good Tony!

Remember that space is limited for divers into Blue Springs so please be early or you may not be able to dive. Also, you must check-in with another diver so we meet at the front gate. We will have two check-in sheets for Lake Mary Scuba Club, one for open water/advanced divers and one for cavern/cave divers. Bring all your gear and certification card/s and as always, dive within your training!

Thanks to all our members for making this a great annual event!

If I'm late. Say 8:15. Will I be able to dive. I work third shift so it's kinda hard. Usually I get out by 7:30. And I work in Sanford so I'm fairly close. If anything please call me. [masked]

Is there any non divers who could keep an eye on my kids while I dive with the group? Kids are well behaved, well experienced swimmers who can just play, not swim if need be. I want to come, just need a little help. :-)

    April 4, 2013

    • Keith & S.

Bring the kids! Everyone will not be diving at the same time.

Where would you suggest renting gear on the way there?

    April 3, 2013

    • Keith & S.

You should rent your gear the day before due to the recommended arrival time. Most dive shops rent gear, however, I am not aware of any that will be open before 8:00AM on Saturday. Please note, entry into the park by divers is limited!

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
