Nekton's Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) design Liveaboards provide a consistent superior level of features. Our SWATH design, based on the same technology that allows oil drilling platforms to operate in the notoriously rough waters of the North Sea, provides stability and comfort unmatched by conventional monohulls and catamarans.Even if you are not inclined to seasickness, the stability will make for a nicer experience including better sleep, easier dining, and less slamming around of your expensive equipment.

Enjoy truly first-class luxury in Nekton's air-conditioned cabins with private baths and spectacular ocean views in every cabin. Indulge in delicious cuisine in our scenic spacious dining room and relax in a comfortable lounge area complete with large screen projection TV, VCR/DVD,and a PC with USB/Firewire/CD Burner and picture/video editing capabilities. Bask in tropical sunshine on the huge sundeck with chaise lounges and a Jacuzzi. The sundeck also make for great stargazing at night.

While onboard Nekton's luxurious Liveaboards, you will enjoy many special features including:

Super stable SWATH design virtually eliminates ship motion so you can sleep soundly while the ship cruises between dive locations overnight.

Huge patented elevating dive platform that lowers to provide easy entry and egress from the water. Entry is either by a not so giant stride off either side, or simply walk down the center stairs into the water. Egress is via two ladders attached to the center stairs
Individual gear compartments under dive platform benches for "wet" gear storage
Steel 90 cubic foot tanks (with standard "K" valves for use with standard yoke regulators) provided for each guest. (Limited number of aluminum and shorter tanks also available)
Soft weights and belts provided for each guest
Anti fogging mask solution and regularly changed freshwater gear rinse tanks are provided
Separate camera exclusive rinse tanks and carpeted camera table
15 foot rigid weighted hang bar with emergency tank deployed during diving
Hot shower and warm towels right on dive deck

Friendly, professional and experienced crew members always on duty during diving. 24 hour crew schedule with at least one crew member always on duty at night

Onboard Dining
Food Glorious Food! No diving vacation would be complete without generous fine dining between your diving. Of course your Nekton cruise includes plenty of gourmet dining with lots of variety.

Meals are served in a combination of buffet and sit down -- after helping yourself at the buffet, crew will offer you drinks, wait on you for second helpings, and offer dessert and coffee. We always have regular and decaffeinated coffee brewed and offer plenty of iced tea, water and juices including grape, orange, cranberry, apple as well as Crystal Light and Gatorade.
Popcorn is also available for late night snacks. The following menu is subject to seasonal variations and changes but is representative of the fine dining you can expect to enjoy during your cruise.

Nekton's Liveaboards utilize a unique Small Waterplane Area Twin Hull (SWATH) design technology to provide you with the smoothest ride unlike any other live-aboards.
Why are SWATH vessels so stable? The key is the two submarine-like pontoons (see pictures) that can ride completely submerged beneath the surface of the water (unlike a catamaran where the pontoons only ride on the surface of the water.)

As a diver, you know that even on a rough day, the water is calmer just a few feet below the choppy surface - that's precisely where the pontoons which provide the buoyancy for a are located - hence the submerged pontoons act as stabilizers giving you the feeling you're on a vessel more than eight times its size!

When the Nekton Pilot was delivered, it was just the 32nd SWATH in the world and the only SWATH designed and engineered from the ground up specifically for SCUBA divers. When the Nekton Rorqual was delivered, it was and still is only the 2nd SWATH SCUBA live-aboard in the world!

Nekton's live-aboards are approximately 25 meters (80 feet) long and 12 meters (40 feet) wide. Propulsion is provided by two large 850 Kilowatt diesel engines located down aft in the pontoons thus isolating the guest area from noise and vibration and providing for more space.

120Volt/60Hz electrical power is delivered to every cabin by redundant diesel generators. Ballast tanks in the pontoons can be flooded with seawater and pumped out by huge pumps in very short notice. Ballasting up (catamaran mode) allows for shallow water harborage (1.8 meters/6 feet) and maximum speed. Ballasting down SWATH mode) provides for maximum stability.
The entire dive platform with stairs raises and lowers via hydraulic lifts making for easy access to and from the water.
The Nekton's live-aboards have modern instrumentation and communications including a global Inmarsat satellite phone with voice and fax; a side scanning SONAR, dual D-GPS navigation; RADAR; real-time weather data; EPIRB; SSB short-wave and VHF radios; and cellular telephone.
Telephone calls via satellite can be placed anytime while onboard via satellite (airtime fees apply).

Onboard fresh water is provided by high capacity desalinators and compressed SCUBA air is provided by certified dual redundant high capacity SCUBA compressors
