Pt. Lobos Dive Tuesday, July 9

Myself and a few others are headed to Pt. Lobos for 2 dives on Tuesday the 9th, and wondering if anyone wants to join. I've only been once before, but it was the best diving in the Monterey area I've done! The plan is the arrive there at 8:30am, do two dives, and head back by 2-ish to try to beat any traffic. I've spoken with the Pt. Lobos Dive Coordinator, and while it is safer to put in a reservation (via the Pt. Lobos Foundation website) she says for this weekday it is probably not needed- you can just show up and pay your $10 at the entrance. If you do want to make a reservation, it is best to buddy-up when submitting the form, as you pay for a team slot ($20) whether you are reserving for one or two people. There are currently NO teams signed up for that day as of this writing, so it might be a nice un-crowded dive. I'm heading down from San Francisco that morning, but I think my car is already full- 3 people with gear. Hope you can join us!

2 dives, really explored...giant rock fish, needle fish, anemones...adventurous terrain and great dive buddies. Had a blast, can't wait to do it again.

Sorry I couldn't make it - work got hectic, so there was no chance of a day off. How was the dive?

Also, everyone will need their dive cards, and receipt for your reservation if you made one...

Hey all- Tiffani asked a good question- let's meet inside Pt. Lobos at the main parking lot. If you are driving alone, you may want to coordinate to park outside and consolidate cars to save on the $10 parking fee. My number is[masked] in case anyone needs it. See ya tomorrow at 9:30! Best, Peter

I've been to Point Lobos a bunch of times and there is a strategy that is good to follow. Even on weekdays.
If you plan to dive it's always best to make a reservation. There's a good chance if you show up on a weekday there will be an opening but it's always better safe than sorry.

If you do make a reservation you must have a buddy. Their rules are pretty strict and they do not allow individuals to dive alone.
If you do have a buddy you do not need to show up in the same car, but it's cheaper since they charge for park entry. Plus parking is very limited so the fewer cars you bring the easier it will be for yourself and others to get a parking spot.

The next time the group goes on a weekend, I will be there.

    Have fun!

Hi David- yes, the reservation form is a little misleading, but I spoke to the very nice Dive Coordinator Jocie who confirmed it.

I am going, brining 2 tanks. Who will be my buddies? Does anyone want to carpool?

Hey all- realizing I can't pick up tanks anywhere in Monterey before 9:00 on a weekday, so let's push the meeting time at Pt. Lobos to 9:30am. Thanks, Peter

I live in S. San Jose near 101 or 85, can someone carpool?

I haven't dove with this group in a long time, but a weekday Lobos trip sounds great. I'll try to make it... What's the plan, site-wise?

Hey Brian, hope you can join. I've dove along the wall, then out in the center. Both were great. I'm not experienced enough at the site yet to do the cave or other places. We'll see what conditions and vis are like.

I started the group because there wasn't any other type of group like this. I've met some great folks in the group who have become close friends and have also met some amazing business owners.
