This is an annual event at the Retzlaff Winery in Livermore. Bring your spinning wheel, spindle, knitting or crochet and a pot-luck dish to share for lunch. (You can bring your own food if you don't want to participate in the potluck.) Their entry fee is $5.00. It's like a giant picnic with fiber and wine from 10-4.
Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. You'll be sitting on lawn. Don't forget sunscreen, hat and money for wine or the vendor booths in addition to the $5 entry fee. Check the weather for what to wear. It can be quite hot. Last year was a bit windy, so layers were needed. I went last year, so let me know if you have any questions.
Those that want to carpool can meet in front of Coffee Society in the Pruneyard and carpool from there. The parking garage does not have a time limit for parking. I would like to get to Retzlaff close to when the event starts at 10 so I'm planning on leaving from the Coffee Society by 9:15. If there are several people that want to leave later, I'm sure we can coordinate a second departure time. When you RSVP, note in the comments if you want to carpool - driver or passenger, and when you want to leave so we can try to coordinate carpooling.
Here's the official description from the Retzlaff Winery website:
Fleeces Food and Fun. Spinning with the Treadles to Threads Guild. 10-4. Bring your spinning wheel and a pot-luck dish to share for lunch. Don’t spin yet? Join the “Try it Out Circle” for those who would like to learn. We love knitters! Get your first pick of prize-winning fleeces before the “Black Sheep Gathering”. Entry fee $5.00. Prize drawing at 2:00. (I purchased my first spindle there last year and fell down the rabbit hole of spinning, but the rest of our group survived unscathed.)
