First Wednesday Knitting Meetup - January 2010

First knitting meetup of 2010 is our First Wednesday meetup On First Wednesdays, we meet up at Peet's for knitting and show & tell. This particular Wednesday happens to be my birthday, and I plan to be there for a change! Bring your show & tell of both finished objects AND knitting-related holiday gifts! See you there, knittas! ******* WHO ARE WE: SCV Knitting Meetup is a loosely organized group of knitters who meet every month on the first and third Wednesday to stitch together. New knitters, new members, knitters of all ages, abilities, and inclinations are welcome. For first Wednesday meetup, we sit inside at Peet's-- we have to move some tables and chairs around to accommodate our large group in their small space. Please note that Peet's does NOT serve dinner -- just delicious coffee, tea, and munchers. Remember it is only right that we patronize the venues that host us. Please buy something from the meetup location! If you have any recent finished objects, please bring them to share at 8 pm Show & Tell. Happy knitting, -spinnity / mary / organizer

So nice to see everybody in the new year and see what everyone's working on.

Melissa, Marcia, Mary, and Martina held down the M end of the table. Stacey, our newest participant brought a stuffed lamb (? I think) for show & tell... and Martina brought a flop eared bunny. They looked like they got along really well. Marcia's photos of her GI-NORMOUS afghan were quite impressive. Jasmine brought a finshed extra-wide Clapotis that she's been working on for Some Time Now. Dee Dee's "We call them pirates" hat is looking pretty awesome. Lori B brought a box of yarn from her folks-in-law and Larissa promptly glommed onto it for her daughter's crafty projects. Chelsea showed off some fabulous mitts and also a hat made of lichen / moss colored hand-spun. Mmm, delicious! Jeannie is *this* close to finishing her silky scarf for her friend in Chicago and Pam Kee brought one of the items she is knitting for the UFOSmackdown 2010 - a lacy pink sweater for her daughter. She says she knit zero yellow sweaters in 2009. The times, they are a changing!

I'm surprised by the level of growth I've seen since becoming an organizer, it's given me more confidence in my abilities.
