Hello everyone - it seems that I should clear up some confusion & potential for bad feelings from my previous email regarding RSVP's.
We have NEVER turned away people who show up to the SCV Knitting Meetup. We have ALWAYS welcomed everyone willingly and warmly. Please do continue to sign up for events and come to them!!! We do not want to turn anyone away - we just need to know how many people to expect.
That being said - we organizers have sometimes been left scratching our heads with regard to RSVP's and attendance. We sometimes get 20 "Yes" and a long list of "Waitlist", only to have 8 - 10 people actually show up. Or the contrary - only 6 - 8 RSVP "Yes", and yet we fill the location! These unpredictabilities make it tough for us to prepare for the group: with chairs, tables, space, meeting the new folks, setting expectations with the venue staff, etc.
So we are just trying to get a better handle on the attendance in general - to enable us to:
+ let YOU - our group! - feel comfortable RSVPing, joining, or bowing out as you please
+ work with the venue to accommodate a group roughly the size we predict
+ continue to find fun & group-size appropriate locations
+ generally manage the interest and support levels needed to maintain such a wonderful group!
+ and yes - it is "common courtesy" to adjust your RSVP if your plans change.
So PLEASE - keep your RSVP's as current as possible to help us to support this wonderful group!
Please understand that my previous email was not meant as a nasty-gram or meant to exclude anyone from attending tonight's meetup. I'm just trying to help our volunteer organizers plan accordingly for tonight & future events.
THANK YOU... and keep on knitting!!!!
