not to rain on everyone's parade. I want to share a less than stellar experience with Amerivespa.org. I had a series of issues with getting my badge and other items this weekend. Subsequently I was not able to go to the concert , Now I take responsibility for the issues not getting to the registration, but when I contacted Amerivespa about getting the Tshirt and Rally Bag sent to me, as I had already paid for that, they simply refused and said that I was basically out of luck. needless to say Im a bit frustrated, out $70.00 and have nothing to show for it... I did go on some nice rides, but even with out this Event I woould have gone on some nice rides... I take issue with the SOL attitude and response I got from the Amerivespa contact. I work in Support and customer service and this is certainly not how I would treat any of my customers. In any case that is my rant...

Email me from the squadron members list and I will get the bag to you some how.

      July 2, 2013

    • Geoff

Sam, you still want the goodie bag ??

      July 8, 2013

  • Vincent M.

She is all smiles I think " smiles " should be her new name that's my vote

    1 · July 2, 2013

    • Jeff

Oy maybe since we're "Sqooterheads" she can be "Smileyhead" !

      July 3, 2013

    • Perry

Okay easy does it let's not chase her off.

      July 3, 2013

Oh my gosh, you guys are embarrassing the heck out of me!! I am delighted to be part of this group :-)

      4 · July 2, 2013

  • Sam H

Greg, Ive been trying to communicate with their Rep and have not gotten any response to my last emails... for such a large organization they sure have fallen short on the customer service end.

    July 2, 2013

  • Greg B.

Sam, I'm right there with you. After showing cars for over 25 years. I entered my first national scooter show. The worst Judging I've ever seen. Scooters were moved to the wrong class so they could win. A new class was created afterwards so somebody else could win. A scooter in pieces that didn't even run won one class.

Never again. It's very sad Vespa name is tied to this event.

    July 2, 2013

    • Jennifer B

Oh, Jeez!! Are you OK? How about your scoot? I never ever want that to happen to me!!

      1 · July 2, 2013

    • Wagehog

It'll happen to you one of these days ;-) I was fine & my Buddy was fine. I just had a bruised ego & bruised rib. It happened on the 1st day, and as you saw, it didn't effect any of my rides.

It's inevitable that as hosts of such an epic event in our own city, our various responsibilities don't allow us to experience the event with the same sort of unbridled joy as those from out of town or as those not so involved with the planning. But I am a good observer of people, and I observed many Amerivespa attendees having the time of their lives this past weekend. This one included. On behalf of all the Sqooterheads, we were thrilled to be a part of this Amerivespa.

This was my first Amerivespa even though I've been in the squadron since 2008. Things went fine, until the dinner on Saturday night. It didn't appear to be Amerivespa's fault however. I did have a good time just the same.

    June 30, 2013

  • Greg B.

VCOA is so screwed up! Everything else was fine.

    June 30, 2013

  • Jennifer B

Thanks to all my new friends, I can't imagine a better time w/ a nicer group of people!! Scooter Squadron & Sqooterheads- YOU ROCK!!!

Great days and of course the English Beat/Dave Wakeling were fantastic on Friday night. Amazing scooters on display on Sunday.
San Diego was the perfect location.

It was an epic event. The scooters. the music, the food, the rides, the police??? Everyone had a great time due to the efforts on a lot of people. Meg without your running of the meetings and facebook things would been rough. To all of you who assisted on the rides, Thank You! I tossed some members a vest and said your helping! They did a perfect job. Geoff, Reid, Sam, Wagehog, Sherry T, Jack, Daniel, Joe K, Susan K, Matt M. and many others whose names currently escape me Thank You. We had rides larger than anything we have ever done and we came through with flying colors. The naysayers when our participation was announced said we couldn't pull it off can now eat some humble pie. Our friends in the Sqooterhead group lead by Electric Steve did a great job.

Hello, even though I will not be there in person I will be there in spirit. It's interesting how life rolls the dice, and one is pulled away from one of the most rewarding activities in the scooter world. For all of you, please have an excellent time for I know you will, esp. on Saturday night. But the rides too. Take care and post a lot of pics.

You can register at Amerivespa.org. Regarding on site registration, they may have already sold out of the Saturday night dinner.

    June 17, 2013

    • Sammy

Oh? How can I find out for sure? At check-in Thursday? I just registered yesterday but received no notice of any sold out events. It'll be a bummer if I have to go home to PB&J Saturday night instead...jk, lol!

      June 17, 2013

    • Meg

If they did not change the registration site, you are okay. At one of our planning meetings they were saying that they were close to full for the dinner, so you are probably just fine.

SDSS Members, DON'T miss this event. No telling when it will come back to San Diego. $65 is a bargain for four days of rides, meeting other scooterists, and all accompanying activities.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
